Waverly
|
|
Waverly's historic interest lies in the fact that it was used by General U.S. Grant as Union headquarters following the Battle of Raymond. The home has been altered in appearance by wings added on the east and west sides. The original front of the home faced east. With the added wings, the front is now the south side. Waverly has never been owned by anyone other than a member of the Peyton family. The home is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. |
